Tom Wraps Up His Economic REVIVAL Tour

This month Tom visited all 22 counties and municipalities in the 5th District, talking with hundreds of concerned citizens about his plan for Economic REVIVAL. Tom listened to laid off furniture workers in Martinsville, small business owners in Campbell County, farmers in Brunswick and teachers in Albemarle. Everywhere he went he heard about the need for new leadership, and the desire for better paying jobs and a strong economy. Tom's economic REVIVAL plan was road-tested all month, and will help him respond to the needs of the people of Central and Southside Virginia.

Enter Tom Perriello, a Democrat running a unique campaign in Virginia’s solidly red 5th congressional district. Perriello has instituted a community service initiative that requires campaign staffers and volunteers to donate ten percent of their time to the community. He calls this “volunteer tithing,” after the Christian practice of donating a tenth of one’s income to the church.

Tom Perriello, Democratic nominee for Virginia's Fifth Congressional District, was the clear winner in today's Senior Statesmen of Virginia candidates' forum. The forum, which also featured Rep. Virgil Goode, provided an audience of hundreds of concerned citizens the opportunity to ask questions about the most important issues this year. Despite Rep. Goode's refusal to use a fair coin toss to determine speaking order, Perriello earned great applause from the audience as he spoke of his call to service and his record of finding solutions in impossible situations.

DCCC Names VA-05 as a Red to Blue Race

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has announced that it has named Virginia’s Fifth Congressional District to its Red to Blue program. The Red to Blue races feature the DCCC’s highest priority candidates and are the races believed to be the most competitive in November.
